Jon Beedell, along with his comedy partner Richard Smith, was plucked from The Desperate Men , a regular and popular act on board the Old Profanity Showboat. He brought a great deal of malevolent energy to his role as Soliquisto's ventriloquist dummy. His lines were few but memorable and every move delivered with wooden jerks and flat faced menace.
