Dog Ends... somewhere in time somewhere in England
VIVIAN STANSHALL: RAWLINSON DOG-ENDS
King's Head Theatre, London N1
Opened 13 June, 1991
Period English eccentricity and '60s acid-camp had a baby, and they called it Viv. Still a tad shaky after kicking years of booze-and-drug dependency ("Sorry about the unusual breathing in that song, I decided to have an anxiety attack"), the ex-Bonzos frontman shows that he can still perform the linguistic equivalent of stapling jelly to the wall. It's not exactly polished, but Vivian Stanshall is a Grade II listed English nutter and we should be proud to sponsor the process of restoration to his full implausibly crenellated glory.
